Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Career Buddi, the application at careerbuddi.app (the "Service"), operated by Joe Poirier ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Career Buddi is a tool that helps you organize your career history into reusable facts ("atoms"), manage professional contacts, and generate job-application materials such as resumes and cover letters. The Service is currently offered as a closed, invite-only beta and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide to create your account is accurate.

3. Accounts

Access is currently granted through a waitlist and invitation. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at joe@joetheaiguy.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Bring-your-own API key and AI usage

The Service uses a "bring-your-own-key" model for AI features. You provide your own Anthropic API key, which we store encrypted and use only to make requests on your behalf. You are solely responsible for:

  • Obtaining and maintaining your own Anthropic account and API key;
  • All usage charges, fees, and costs that Anthropic bills to your account as a result of your use of the Service;
  • Complying with Anthropic's applicable terms of service and usage policies.

We do not pay for, and are not responsible for, your Anthropic API usage or costs.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create or upload to the Service, including your atoms, contacts, job descriptions, and generated materials ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service to you — including sending the relevant content to Anthropic for processing when you request generated materials. We do not claim ownership of Your Content and do not use it to train AI models.

You are responsible for Your Content, including any information you enter about other people, and you represent that you have the rights necessary to provide it and that doing so does not violate any law or the rights of any third party.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • Enter information about other people that you do not have the right to use;
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Service;
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service except as permitted by law;
  • Use the Service to generate false, deceptive, or fraudulent statements about your qualifications or anyone else's.

We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms.

7. AI-generated content

The Service uses AI to generate resumes, cover letters, and related materials. AI output may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and editing any generated material before relying on or submitting it. Career Buddi does not guarantee the accuracy of generated content and does not guarantee any particular outcome, including employment or interview results.

8. Beta service; "as is"

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. As a beta product, the Service may contain bugs, may change without notice, and may experience downtime or data loss. We recommend keeping your own copies of important information.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joe Poirier shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Joe Poirier from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting joe@joetheaiguy.com. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, including if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California.
